Remember, if you’re planning to be in France for more than six months, it is essential that you register your vehicle with The Préfecture (the administrative headquarters in France). Ensure you know where your nearest location is so that you can register in good time.
Car shipping to France is generally duty-free, as long as VAT has been paid in the UK and the vehicle is at least 6 months old when moving to France. The vehicle must also have done at least 6000km because we conduct your car transport to France. If your car is newer than 6 months, then it is likely you’ll have to pay French VAT, unless you can prove that VAT has already been paid on the vehicle. Vehicles older than 4 years will have to undergo an MOT test before the car shipping to France, in order to ensure that the car meets French criteria.
